Forgive us Hashem, please Hashem we beg You, for we refuse to cherish the
Land that You desire. Who are we when compared to those brave men who
settled in the land in the past generations, we are like worms without
strength, we are weak in our minds. We say one thing and mean the other,
we who recite the prayers which exalt the land constantly and yet
refuse to go live there. We say Next Year in Yerushalaim and yet we choose
to remain in impure Lands. Hashem, please give us strength to break the
lust for money which holds us back from going up to Eretz Israel, for it
is known before You, that material comfort is the main reason why we do
not come closer to You in the Land of the living. We are sorry Hashem, You must feel betrayed by our behavior, please Hashem be patient; Do it for Your sake and not for us. Oh Hashem, the Land is ready, we have no problems with governments forbidding our entrance to the Land, as used to be the case before, moreover now we have a government that helps us settle in the Land You chose to give us, and yet Hashem we still choose to dwell in the Lands of our enemies. Waiting, just waiting for the next pogrom, for the next confiscation of our assets. How blind we are. Hashem please have compassion on us, and even though we have no merits, please Hashem open our hearts to the Love of Eretz Israel so that we may go live there. That we may go there through compassion and not becasue of death and persecution, G-d forbid Open our eyes Hashem, that we may see clearly that America is not our Land, Europe is not our Land, open our eyes that we may feel the impurity in which we are immersed. Remove us from the sin of the spies who despised the Land. Forgive us for having heard their evil counsel, and having cried for no reason. Please Hashem let us repair what we did to the Shechina (Ha Aretz) when we complained about her. We don't want to be in the desert anymore. We want to enter the Land. But we need Your help, in order to break our desires. Let us Hashem follow Your Torah and not our own wishes, for Your Torah can only be properly fulfilled in Eretz Israel. Please Hashem listen to our supplications, because You listen to the Tefillah of everyone who desires to fulfill Your Torah |
Prayer of Reb Natan mi Bresslov on Eretz Israel Have mercy on me! Arouse Your great love and kindness for me and help me go to the Holy Land soon. Eretz Israel is the very source of our holiness, as You know, HaShem. All our holiness, our purity and our very identity as Jews depend on Eretz Israel. It is impossible to be a true Jew and rise spiritually from level to level except through coming to Eretz Israel, the place of our holiness, the land You chose from all other lands and gave as an inheritance to Your people Israel, choicest of all the nations — the land You watch over constantly, as it is written: “A land that HaShem your G-d watches over; the eyes of HaShem your G-d are upon it constantly from the beginning of the year until the end of the year.” You know the terrible array of obstacles, blocks and distractions holding us back and preventing us from reaching Eretz Israel. Our days and years have been wasted in exile. We have been banished from the land of the living, the Holy Land. We’ve been kept from attaching ourselves to Hashem’s portion, which is the source of our very life and length of days, and from dwelling in the land Hashem has given us. Master of the Universe, loving G-d: have pity on us! Open our hearts, the hearts of our children and of all Your People, the House of Israel, and fill us with the most powerful longing, yearning and desire for Eretz Israel. Let us constantly yearn and long to come to the Land until You actually bring us there soon, so that we will be truly inspired to serve You and fear You. Loving G-d: have mercy on us! Don’t let us waste our days in exile. You know our suffering and weakness at this time. It is impossible for us to break the tremendous array of barriers keeping us from Eretz Israel. We do not have the strength to break so many thousands and thousands of obstacles and barriers except through Your power and mercy. We have none to depend upon except You, our Father in Heaven. Have pity on Your People and bring us to Eretz Israel quickly and easily. Give us the strength to win the war and break, drive out and remove all those who say bad things about the Land, creating all kinds of obstacles to prevent us from reaching there. Help us break and destroy all the barriers and come to Eretz Israel peacefully, quickly and easily. |
"Rabbis are there in order to influence their congregations. This is their job. Just this year, Rabbi Mordechai Tendler, a congregational Rabbi in New Hempstead, NY, announced to his congregation that the time had come to return home, and established a new community in Israel along with seventy families from his community. This move was inspirational well beyond the borders of his community. But why aren't more Rabbis making similar moves? Why are most Rabbis content with maintaining the status quo of a religious Jewry in exile? Should not the religious community believe that is it our leaders, our rabbis, who will lead us into the Messianic age? But the blame does not lie completely with the Diaspora community. It seems like many of the religious leaders in Israel, while physically redeemed, are spiritually still in the Exile. What are the two main focuses of the hareidi parties in Israel? Getting money for yeshivot and avoiding the army." From Kumah.org |
"Zion, will you not ask if peace be with your captives Who seek your welfare, who are the remnant of your flocks? From west and east, north and south, from every side, Accept the greetings of those near and far, and the blessings of this captive of desire, who sheds his tears like the dew of Hermon and longs to have them fall upon your hills. I am like a jackal when I weep for your affliction; but when I dream of your exiles' return, I am a harp for your songs... If only I could roam through those places where G-d was revealed to your prophets and heralds! Who will give me wings, so that I may wander far away? I would carry the pieces of my broken heart over your rugged mountains..." Rabbi Yehuda ha Levy, Tzion Ha Lo Tishali |
Furthermore, I am astonished at you, "exile-Jew." Your eyes are so blinded that you do not see what is happening around you. You see how the oppressors torture your brethren, beating and afflicting them terribly, and you are not moved at all! You see your brothers' blood flowing on the ground like water and you are not frightened, for you believe that the hour is still propitious. You say in your heart that these things will not affect you at all because you are standing in a safe place, and you bless yourself in your heart saying that you will have peace. If only your words could be true! So may Hashem say. O "exile-Jew" listen and pay heed to my words. Open your eyes and see that your brethren, upon whom this calamity has fallen, also dwelt in a safe place like you do. But in the end, the tables were turned, and they were plundered and murdered (may the Merciful One protect us). How are you so sure and confident that you will be spared this fate? Why are you not afraid? And why is your heart not softened by your friend's misfortune? The explanation for this is as I stated above: The exile has made the Jew into an "exile-Jew." It separated and detached him from the collective nation and made him live an isolated life in exile. He no longer lives a nationalistic life, nor does he feel for his nation and inheritance. He only knows about his own affairs. This is the true description of an "exile-Jew," and this is what has brought us to our present situation. |

Rabbi Kook writes in a letter (Letters of Rabbi Kook, Vol. 2, Letter 407): "Even though it is incumbent upon us to wage a strong battle against the dry nationalists, proponents of 'Jews denuded of Judaism' who were especially prevalent via the gymnasium academy here, nevertheless, on the other hand, it is incumbent upon us to be extremely careful not to break the thread of unity and brotherhood between the workers and the settlers in Eretz Israel, because we have been repeatedly warned what damage a civil war can do, especially at the beginning stages of our settling the Land while' we are still so few and weak in strength, and surrounded by enemies round about in every direction." |
DO NOT TRY TO OUTSMART HASHEM BY ENJOYING BOTH WORLDS The truth is that the American Jews are nervous and insecure and, in many cases, frightened to death. In itself, this might prove to be beneficial if there were leaders who had the foresight and courage to shout out the warning of the Almighty that the Exile is surely being moved to destruction. But there are no such leaders in religious and secular life and Jews continue to be told to live in Crown Heights and Boro Park while ads urge Aliya to Plainview, the RCA's own Windsor Park in Bayside and as far west as Livingston, New Jersey. And at best, we now hear such sage wisdom as: Have a passport handy, buy an apartment in Israel just in case (and if you make that kind of money), and read the news carefully so that you can be smart, enjoy the fleshpots as much and as long as possible, and then be smarter than the goy by getting out at the last minute...
